Back in the Carolinas

I know that I haven't posted anything in a while. This post will be short and simple as well because we are using a local connection at an aunt's house. Just wanted to let everyone know that we arrived safely in N. Carolina. Seth has adapted well & loves having his own room. Hopefully we'll be able to post more often soon but not really sure what our internet future holds at the moment. Hope to see you all sooner than later!!

Bubbie to Daddy... 'I Love You'

Today I decided to drag poor 'Bubbie' for yet another trip around the local Barnes & Noble. In all honesty I do feel sorry for the poor kid. He has a mommy who get bored WAY too easily & who can walk around a bookstore for endless hours and spend Nothing. Nada. Zilch. But anyways- I was sitting in the cafe area flipping through a magazine when my phone rang. It was 'Daddy' calling from Afghanistan.

My husband, the before mentioned 'Daddy' has been deployed since 'Bubbie' was 12 days old. Recently, in May, he was home for two weeks but 'Bubbie' hasn't heard his voice since. Since it had been so long, and in a desperate act to get my kid to be in a better mood, I put the phone up to his ear & prompted the husband to talk. 'Bubbie' looked at the phone, listened, grinned, & repeated the actions a few times. Right as I was taking the phone back my son proceeded to tell his Daddy that he loved him! Of course it wasn't 'clear as a bell' speech but it was as close as a 10 month old can get. His Daddy knew what he was saying, I heard it, & anyone else in their right mind would be able to have understood it.

I know the fact that Seth FINALLY said this to him, made his Daddy's day. It made mine... let's just ignore the fact that I am one of the ONLY people who haven't been privileged enough to hear those little sounds come from his mouth. lol... I'm not hating, just saying. lol. He'll say it to me... eventually. Right?! haha... but anyways-

It's late & 'Bubbie' gets up e.a.r.l.y regardless to what time I head to bed. So I must get going. Thank you all for reading.

G'night!!

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer: In It To End Breast Cancer

So, Bubbie & I are wanting to participate in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this October when it's in Charlotte,NC. My Grandmother, his Great-Grandmother, was a Breast Cancer Survivor. Ever since I was old enough to comprehend everything, Breast Cancer Awareness has been close to my heart. I even have a pink ribbon tattooed on my chest. I also think it's important to raise your kids to have an awareness of such causes as Breast Cancer Awareness & such.

Why don't we just walk, you may be asking yourself... well, here's the thing- They want each walker to raise a donation amount of: $1800. We have until October to raise the money but not sure if I know enough people to be able to raise this amount or not. This is where you guys come in.

Who is willing to help us get the word out? Anyone willing to donate to the cause from their own pocket or help raise money to donate under my name? Anyone in Charlotte,NC want to form a team? I'm completely serious about wanting to do this. It is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time now. Will you guys help me make this possible? Or will I just have to wait till next year?

Let me know what you're thinking please... It'll help me figure out what my choices are with this. Thanks everyone!!

Bubbie Goes to the Park

This evening Seth & I decided to take a trip to the park. We chose to go to a local park where there are usually very few people. When we got there I was kind of please to see that we were the only ones there. It gave us the whole park & plenty of little spots for photos. Just wanted to post before bed & share some of my favorites with you guys... There are just a few of them, the rest can be found on my Facebook. Let me know if you'd like the link. Enjoy!!

Big Bubbie Milestone today!!

Photobucket

As you all can tell, today is a big milestone for Bubbie... It may not seem like a big deal to some but to us, it is. Up until about 1 1/2 months ago he wouldn't even put strength on his legs. Not because he couldn't but because he was too lazy to. Yes, I just called my kid lazy. [lol] Once we got him into a jumperoo though, its been legs to work since then. The climbing, the attempting to crawl (only to figure out scooting is much easier work), & now the standing. I was able to snap about 6 or 7 photos of him standing there before he plopped down. No crying or fear visible from the trip down. No injuries & he went right about his way. Man- my little guy is growing up. He'll be 10 MONTHS friday to be exact- huh... where does the time go?!?

p.s. Don't forget to stop by & vote for Bubbie at Parents.com website. Please!! Anyone can vote once a day until 6/13. Thank you ahead of time♥

Cardboard boxes & Baby jars

Cardboard boxes & empty baby food jars... these are apparently a few of my son's favorite things. I swear, he has tons of toys. He's only 9, almost 10, months old and has toys out the wazoo. However, give him any type of cardboard box (soda case, baby food jar tray, or even an empty diaper box) and he's in love. Throw in some empty baby jars and it's Heaven for him. Not that the jars will stay in the box very long but still. It'll keep him busy for minutes. And we all know that it's a miracle to find things that can actually hold their attention for longer than a second.

Anyways- This is a short blog but we need to start our day. I'm thinking about heading to the park with Bubbie to take some pictures and just get out of the house. Really have a lot to get done here though, so no telling. Actually think it's getting close to his nap time. Grumpy, Grumpy...

Enjoy & have a nice day♥♥

Giggles, Laughs, & Grins

I was sitting here tonight trying to figure out what to write about. At first I had planned on writing to update everyone on my Post-baby weight loss journey. However, I'd rather save that for when I have pictures to share with everyone. With that subject out the window for tonight I stopped & all the thoughts were about my son's handsome face. About his smiles & laughter. It may sound kind of corny but any mother understands what I'm talking about. It's not corny, it's simply amazing. What makes it even better is when it obviously makes the day of someone else. Prime Example:

Yesterday I decided that Seth & I needed to get out of the house. Where do we decide to go?!? The local Barnes & Noble of course. [l♥l] Well, I'm standing there checking out the photography magazines & not paying Seth much attention. Then, I hear him laughing his little laugh & kind of talking. Nothing new besides the fact that I'm thinking.. 'Who/What is he laughing at?' I look up & there is an elderly woman sitting a yard or so away from him.

Apparently they had been carrying on their little games for a little while as we had been standing there. Her & I talked briefly but then I returned to flipping through my magazine. Her & Seth carried on like no one else was even in the room. Laughing and playing. It simply melted my heart. The moment was wonderful, yet bittersweet, all at the same time.

See, it made me miss my grandmothers. I honestly don't believe we'd have Seth if my grandmothers hadn't passed & intervened. Still, though, I wish he could have met them. They would have loved him just as much as everyone else, if not more. Seeing the elderly lady at Barnes & Noble made me think of the moments they would have shared together. It made my day however bittersweet it was and hopefully it made her day as well.

& who know~ maybe Seth isn't really laughing & talking to himself all those times I've thought he was crazy while playing 'alone' in his crib.

Vote For Seth!!

Just wanted to write & let everyone know that I decided to enter Seth in a photo contest at Parent.com website. Everyone can go & vote for him daily this week. Let me know if you go & vote so I can personally say thank you to everyone!!

Never See Monkey, But Monkey Still Do...

Everyone meet Seth Maxwell. Ten month old Climber Extraordinaire. One morning he woke up & decided... "Hey! I want to climb on something" & so he did. This was actually the second morning or his climbing adventures. The first was on top of a Tupperware storage bin that I use to hold the bedroom door open.
I must admit that I am proud of my son. It seemed like it was going to take forever for him to get to where he would do anything besides roll & army crawl. But here we are... everyday he does something new to surprise me. Some days he even surprises me more than once. For instance, both times he has climbed up on something, he has been able to get himself back down to floor level without hurting himself or really scaring me. Impressive in my opinion but maybe that's just because I'm a biased Mommy.I guess I should have been keeping up with this blog thing from the very beginning because already things are beginning to vanish from my memory. It's only been, what seems like the blink of an eye, since he was born. I remember that day like it was just yesterday (*owie*) but some of the other stuff is slipping away. That is why i decided to start back blogging about things. I want to look back over this & remember. I want to share with other people how proud I am of my son & his accomplishments. I want to let other people get to know my family through my eyes. To grow to love them as I do.
